It feels like just yesterday the Class of 2011 entered the doors of SJHS. Arriving as freshmen in 2007, the class has grown together and as individuals, developing into young women.

"The future looks bright because as a group they’ve had a great spirit and intelligent approaches towards life," says the class’ guidance counselor S. Pat Lucas. The physical difference of the class from freshman year to senior year is quite obvious and S. Pat adds that the class has "matured in everything and mentally in every way."

Even if the Class of 2011 hasn’t always worn perfect uniforms, everyone has noticed their overall sense of unity and it’s something they should be highly admired for. "If there’s drama, the class knows how to live everyday without even taking it out on each other," says S. Pat.

Even when it comes down to their freshman sisters or underclassmen, the senior class can be seen trying to mediate problems to prevent further issues that can have consequences on the entire student body. "I believe that they all have attained a certain level of maturity," says Mr. Magloire. "It’s a good class. I’ve always had a great relationship with them."

They have been able to keep good relationships with teachers this year but the bond within the class is without a doubt what keeps this class sane. Being able to go to each other when there’s an issue or just being able to simply communicate makes this class feel like a family and that they’re not alone in this hectic time.

"They all are so different in personalities, in approaches towards academics, and hardly have the same interests, yet they still get along very well," says Mr. Theophille.

It is safe to say the class of 2011 embodies the school year theme "Light, Lead, Live." Within the class there are multiple leaders, role models and inspirational stories. "They are sincere young ladies with positive attitudes who practice R.A.V.E. (respect, appreciation and value for eveyone) and are not afraid of challenges," says Mr. Cooke.

Perhaps their unity was easily formed by the individuals’ sense of self which seems to be acknowledged by those around them. "One of the things the students have become more of is reflective, they have more realistic views towards the world and for a number of them open-mindedness," says Mr. Theophille.

Along with newly open minds the class of 2011 can be said to have grown much stronger. "I’ve been watching the last couple of weeks pass, seeing them overcoming challenges, stress and working things through to leave here in June," says S. Pat about the sense of commitment this class has in order to be successful.

This is the first class to be able to and who has done almost all college applications and information through technology. S. Pat adds that "they adjusted well and quickly."

This class is also full of diverse identities and color. Mr. Magloire comments that "they have a good sense of humor" yet they know when the fun must end. Mr. Cooke added, "I learned that I can expect a lot from this class, and they certainly deliver. As teens they complain but then ace my assignment."
You may be wondering what’s in store for the individuals of the senior class and how they will be in the future. "The class is filled with talented ladies that can offer a lot to society. There are lots of personalities and with the right nurturing they can grow to be real assets," says Mr. Theophille.

The seniors are expecting to leave SJHS and not turn back. Their experience has been a rollercoaster ride and it’s time for a fresh start. The advice from teachers and faculty is similar in which they say "stay true to yourselves and remember where you came from."

There is not a doubt that this class won’t forget about the bond they’ve built nor the family they have made here at Saint Joseph’s.
