Boys varsity volleyball began their season on March 5 in a tournament located at Redondo Union High where they competed against over 40 other schools. The team this year consists of many players that have moved up from junior varsity and only a few former varsity players.
Last year’s varsity team was predominantly seniors, leaving Josh Livingston, Tyler Diriz, Jeff Utupo, Scott Hanes, and Cameron Rexwinkle to return for this season.
Junior Cameron Rexwinkle stated, “I think our team has a lot of potential this year.”
The boys have been practicing hard for this season, which lasts from March 5 to May 7.
Some important upcoming games are scheduled for April 1 at Valley Christian, April 16 at Cerritos, and April 19 at Norwalk. Their last game is at home on May 7 where they face Cerritos, which is also an important game. They are excited for what challenges CIF will bring this year.
Sophomore Starter Ryan Combs asserted, “I’m looking forward to our team progressing so we can do well in CIF.”
Hopefully they will be able to pull off a great record like the one they achieved last year when they went to semi finals. Junior Kevin Dizon said, “I love volleyball!”
