A magical evening awaited prom goers on Friday, May 21. Prom was held at The American Way Cultural Center under the theme “A Fairytale Ending.” The venue glittered with
lights strung along the outdoor stage, and a live folk band played tunes to lighten the mood in the beginning of the evening.

A photo backdrop was set up for friends and couples to take pictures towards the back of the
outdoor area, which flowed into a luxurious lounge style room with secluded areas furnished with chairs and sofas to sit and relax.

The room led to an open atrium surrounded by window displays reminiscent of quaint 18th century American villages.

Employees walked around serving mini desserts, such as brownies and cheesecake, and strawberry smoothie beverages, to keep the prom goers refreshed.

From the atrium, people could choose to go to the casino lounge to play games such as Blackjack, perform on the karaoke stage, sit at the little white iron tables and enjoy each other’s company, or hit the dance floor.

The music played on the dance floor consisted mainly of rap songs, random old hits, a few R&B tracks, three jerking songs, and the expected Cha Cha Slide.

All the girls looked beautiful in their unique dresses, and the guys looked sharp in their tuxedos
that either matched their dates or stood out in a bold fashion.

Junior Shelby Deresynski said, “I’m not really the type to get excited for prom, but it surprised me how fun it was. Everyone looked so beautiful! And the bathrooms were pretty epic.”

Though some parts of the location didn’t seem to fit the theme - the live folk band playing Yankee Doodle for example, the venue was beautiful and overall the evening was amazing.

“Prom was amazing; the location was phenomenal and everything about it was perfect! I loved the smoothies,” said senior Raquel Ramirez.

The night was undoubtably unforgettable for many of the seniors, including senior Louie Ramos, “Prom night was so much fun! I wish it never ended so I could hang out with my friends and dance the night away forever. But since it did, I’ll definitely never forget it.”

“The American Cultural Center was where magic happened on prom night. A place with great
scenery, topped with Monsoon staff members and students, made it like a fairy tale ending,” said senior Michael Tran.
