Although he’s recognized for his box-office motion pictures such as Alice in Wonderland and Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, did you know Tim Burton is also an artist and author?

From May 29 to Oct. 31, Tim Burton’s art will be showcased in his self-titled exhibit at the Resnick Pavilion at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. With over 700 drawings, photos, concept sketches and more, the Tim Burton exhibit is free for children 17 and under (be sure to bring your school I.D.). General admission tickets go on sale May 2 for $20 at www.lacma.org.

The exhibit will not only display Burton’s career as a filmmaker, but as an artist of personal projects as well. “I love [Burton’s] art because he puts a trippy twist to it and his work comes out beautiful,” said junior Miranda Grover.

On May 28, the day before the opening of Tim Burton, a free book signing will be held at the pavilion for Japanese Art at LACMA. This is a rare opportunity to have Mr. Burton sign your exhibition catalogues purchased at LACMA stores, or your copy of his book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy available at www.bn.com. The signing starts at noon and will end promptly at 2 p.m.

Mark your calendar, invite your artsy friends and your creativity deprived family and head to LACMA; 5905 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles. For more info on this exhibit visit www.lacma.org. For more info on the eccentric mastermind behind the art visit www.timburton.com.
