There was no flag waving or celebrating in the hallway.

Instead with the stunning death of terrorist Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of the September 11th attacks, the Murrow community expressed relief that the Al-Qaeda leader was gone.

“I’m very happy they got him and for the families who were killed in the World Trade Center,” said Mr. Paul Berger, science teacher.  “(But) the thought has crossed my mind that there may be more terrorist activity in the weeks to come.”
After hearing the news, science teacher Mrs. Su Ellen Silverman wore an American flag pin in honor of the soldiers who had died.
“I feel relieved but also concern about the backlash,” she said fearing that there might be another terrorist attack as pay back.

Murrow students, many of whom were in kindergarten or first grade when the September 11th attacks occurred, said that Bin Laden deserved his fate.

The Al-Qaeda leader was killed on May 1st in Abottabad, Pakistan after a shootout with U.S. Navy Seals.

“I feel that he has posed a big treat to this country and he deserved what was coming to him,” said Emma Pradere, a freshman. “Life will be so much easier knowing we have less of a target to our country.”

For Communication Arts teacher Mr. Robert Elstein, Bin Laden’s death helps him restore faith in the government.

“I think its very big news because it restores faith in our government and to a lot of people who has lost faith and thought we couldn’t [do it],” said Mr. Elstien. “But I’m not sure. It makes us any safer.”
