Halloween is almost here, which includes trick-or-treating, dressing up, haunted houses, and much more.
For those of you that don't know much about Halloween festivities, here are some of the things going on locally. There are a bunch of neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating in, but some in particular are 100 Oaks, Avalon, Oliver's Crossing, or maybe you might like to just go around the neiborhood you live in.
Dressing up is another festivity of Halloween. You can be anything you want. Maybe if your a girl, you would like to go as a princess, or for a guy maybe something scary like Jason or a creepy clown. Basically, it's a chance to be somebody different for a day.
Finally, there are haunted houses. Some that are nearby are Atrox and Sloss Fright Furnace. They are more for teenagers and adults, because of the gore and scary content. Atrox opened Oct. 2 and will close on Oct. 31. Atrox has guest stars coming to it. These guests include: Michael Myers from the movie Halloween, Darth Vador from the movie Star Wars, The Candyman from the movie The Candyman, and the miner from the movie My Bloody Valentine.
Sloss opened Sept. 26 and will close on Oct. 31. They have made a lot of changes to the old factory. They have zombie attacks, Hillbilly Hell, The Bug Room, Claustrophobic, 3D maze in "frightvision", and a blackhole. These are all just different types of things to scare you in this haunted house; nothing is actually going to hurt you. Sloss is located in Birmingham. Some of the comments on this haunted house from the website, www.frightfurnace.com, were..."Very excited!" and "The best ever!"
The Devil's Advocate asked Candice Crutchfield, Sophomore, what her plans are for Halloween and what she likes most about it. "I plan to go to a fall festival at my church, then after that, a Halloween party!", she said. Crutchfield likes the fall weather and candy most about Halloween.
So what are your plans for Halloween?
