The girls indoor track team dominated the Division III State Championships, leaving their best race of the day for the end.
      At the end of the day, Michelle Coate, Becky Stoyle, Michaela Ng, and Mary Scalan ran the 4x400-meter relay in 3 minutes and 57.12 seconds. This was the seventh fastest time by a Massachusetts team, and they broke the school’s record, taking second place overall.
     Senior  Stoyle started the first leg of the race, giving Pembroke and Andover a battle for first place. Scalan was at the last leg of the relay, earning Pembroke second place by five-tenths of a second.
     “Everybody was focused on their title… it was a total team effort,” said Coach James Rooney on their first Division III indoor state title.
     Along with running the 4x400-meter relay, other events helped to win the gold, including the high jump, 300 meter dash, and the long jump. Junior Chelsea Savage also helped to rack up points by taking part in the 1000 meter run taking second place. Senior Heather Connick took third place in the 1 mile run and Scalan took third in the 300 meter dash.
     The Girls 4x400 relay team of Stoyle, Ng, Coate, and Scanlan continued to dominate and placed second at All-States on February 26 and also finished second at the New England Championships on March 5. This pushed them foward to the New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York City on March 13 where they placed 25th in the country.
