Directed by Tarsem Singh, director of the upcoming fantasy film, The Fall and numerous documentaries, The Cell is like no movie I’ve seen before. The Cell was released in 2000. One would think I would have already seen it, but I have always turned my nose up at it since Jennifer Lopez is the leading lady. I’m really glad that I finally sat down and watched it. I liked it so much that I went and bought it the day after I saw it. I really enjoyed the cast, though I still think it would have been better without Lopez.

In The Cell, Lopez plays an expert child psychologist who, through the means of cutting-edge technology, enters the minds of her patients in order to reach them better. The serial killer, Carl Stargher, (Vincent D’onofrio) goes into a catatonic state moments before the police bust down his front door to arrest him. Since Stargher is the only one who knows where he has hidden his latest victim, FBI Agent Peter Novack (Vince Vaughn) looks to Lopez for help. Lopez enters the mind of the killer and from that point on, this movie is amazing.

I won’t spoil any of the plots from this point on in the movie but rest assured that this movie, at one point or another will give you the heebie jeebies. The Cell is one of the very few movies which have actually given me the creeps. I definitely recommend this movie if you’re looking for something different. Fans of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and psychological thrillers will love this movie.
