Rewarded for their excellent season, Freshmen swimmers Mackenzie Yagodich and Nathan Mihalko successfully qualified for the State Swimming Competition at Bucknell. In the middle of March, Mackenzie and Nathan traveled with Coach Sherri Kofmehl to the University to compete with Double-A high school students from all over the state in various styles. Mackenzie competed in the 500 freestyle, while Nathan participated in both the 100 Backstroke and 100 Fly. At the end of the day, Mackenzie placed 32nd in her event, while Nathan placed 17th in the backstroke and 24th in the fly.
Although proud of their personal accomplishments, both students focused more toward their own team than themselves. “I’m very proud of the team this year. Everyone progressed in their talents since the beginning of the season and excelled in their own races” Nathan states. Mackenzie also shared her pleasure with the team saying – “It was a great year! I’m so proud of everyone and I would love to send a big thank you to Coach Sherri for everything! She is an amazing coach who really inspires us.” Congratulations to Mackenzie and Nathan for their achievements and good luck to them next year!
