Since the movie Unstoppable came out on November 12, 2010 it has proved to be an amazing movie. It has an epic plot and great actors such as Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. In my opinion, Unstoppable is worth seeing.
The main plot of the movie starts when a train operator jumps out of the cab of train 777 to switch the tracks. The train gets away from the conductor and accelerates down the main railroad line. Meanwhile, in a separate train, a rookie conductor, played by Chris Pine, and a veteran engineer, Denzel Washington, are picking up a load. The rookie conductor makes a mistake by attaching too many cars. Because they are too late to drop the extra weight, they continue their ride.
Later on they hear that the runaway train is heading toward them at 70 mph. Being too long to pull over at an emergency stop, because of the extra cars they are connected to, they must wait to pull over to the next stop. Right as they are pulling into the stop the runaway train passes them on the track and destroys the last car. After the two celebrate that they survived this ordeal, they decide to turn around and chase the train in reverse and attempt to stop it. The viewer follows the heroic pair as they attempt to stop the train and save the citizens of the city.
My personal review is that overall the movie is great. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I would love to see it again. There is nothing but action and pure awesomeness. Also knowing that the movie is based on true events makes it feel real.
The movie contains great camera angles, such as some through the windows of the train. Camera angles from a helicopter above the train capture video of Denzel Washington jumping from car to car. But my favorite is the view as a news team is reporting about the runaway train; this makes you feel like you are in the movie. Unstoppable is very underrated and I think it deserves a lot more publicity. The acting in the movie is what you would expect from a Denzel Washington movie.
But even actors such as Ethan Suplee, who usually plays comical roles like his role in the hit T.V. show My Name is Earl, do a great job. Rosario Dawson, who plays Connie in Unstoppable, has also played in Seven Pounds and Eagle Eye. She does another amazing job at drawing one into the movie. And of course Chris Pine gives the viewer a show, as he did in Star Trek, when he plays the conductor Will.
Other reviewers have said similar things about the movie. Eighth grade student Max Shukuya said the movie was, “Very exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat.” Eighth grade student Brooks Baxter also said that the movie was, “Good, because it was suspenseful.” Most people that see the movie have almost the same reaction, saying it is suspenseful. Unstoppable was a great movie and I hope that more people will see the movie and agree.
