These days, one cannot walk through the halls of Mission Hills without seeing at least a dozen couples; everybody seems to be hooked up. But some teens are proud to have been single all their lives.
Many teens are happy with their single relationship status. Teens shouldn’t feel like their lives are incomplete without romance. “I’m super busy with Christian groups and sports, and school,” commented Garry Simmons (11). By remaining single, he is free from all the worries that come with relationships, so he can focus on more important things. He went on to explain, “I’m an AP student and a musician, so I don’t have much spare time.” Being single also means sparing yourself the heartbreak and rejection of a break-up.
Everybody wants to be loved, and family and friends provide unconditional love. They love you for who you are, not how you look or what you can do for them. “I live by the golden rule of loving God with my heart and soul, and I love my friends and family like I love myself,” expressed Simmons. One doesn’t need a boyfriend or girlfriend to feel complete.
“I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything, because I don’t think I’ve met the right person yet. I want it to be special so I’m willing to wait,” remarked Raquel English (11).
Why submit yourself to the dreary routine of hooking up and breaking up?
