Mrs. Bacon and her class with Justin Davis as her student teacher for the day on Coup Day. - Carlos Cabrera

I won the bid for Miss. Bacon as my student coup day
teacher. The class was algebra II. I really liked it and I got to hang
out with Mrs. Bacon. She is a cool teacher, she rides a motorcycle when
it is nice and likes to have a good conversation about it. Just ask her
about it!!! I got to teach 5 different periods and I really loved it!
I was afraid at first because I was going to be standing in front of a
class, but I ended up being able to speak loud and clear. It went a lot
better than I thought, because for about a week before ,I was freaking
out thinking how I’m going to be loud enough for everyone to hear me;
I’m not a very loud person. But I absolutely loved it.
I was in charge of teaching Algebra II. I was teaching a review for
restrictions and many other math terms. At the first part of the day I
couldn’t get the material myself, but by the end of the day I was able
to answer many of the questions that the students had.
I would recommend participating to anybody who is social and likes
people. However, I never would be a teacher but it was a very great
experience; and if I retired I might look into being a substitute for
some extra money. Also, it would take up my spare time with something
fun.
I think that anybody could do it but I didn’t have to do all the work
that the teacher has to do to prepare for the next day; so don’t think
that being a teacher is all fun and games; it’s not. A teacher must
grade about 100 tests in your own time and that really stinks.
So
be ready for it if you want to become a teacher - it’s a tough career.
Next year I look forward to seeing more people at student coup day next
year bidding for one of their favorite teachers.
