Plans for next year: Bonvincent will attend Rutgers University-Camden for earn both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing. He selected Rutgers over many other schools that sought him because it Rutgers offered him “the best financial help in terms of scholarships and aid.” He is also comfortable with the campus layout itself, for it is small and intimate, giving students many opportunities to meet each other, and allowing professors to know their students well.
College Major: While growing up, Bonvincent was exposed to a hospital setting, as both his mother and many relatives have professions in the medical field. He also feels that his “calling in life is to help people” and believes that nursing “serves as the most practical and suitable career” for him. Through nursing, Bonvincent hopes to not only help people but also to “understand diversity better.”
High school course that was most influential and why: Bonvincent believes that his AP Calculus class taught by Mr. Davidson was his most influential class. “I was able to apply everything I have learned in the past three years into this class while learning about the mathematical applications to society at the same time,” Bonvincent said. And he gives kudos to Mr. Davidson for making sure “none of us ever fell behind.” Bon said that AP Calc challenged him every day to “push himself the extra limit.”
Words of wisdom to underclassmen: “You may not believe that high school flies by when you are sitting in class, but step back and look at the big picture. Look at how much you have accomplished, and look at what lies ahead of you. I advise you all to not take the time in the classroom for granted --- use your time to learn more about the world around you, and most important, yourself…create everlasting friendships and always stay true to yourselves.”
