After starting since their freshmen year, seniors, Juan Mendoza (Arts), Noah Gallo (Architecture), and Hector Garcia (Architecture) have carried their team to continuous improvement. They have supplied the team with effort and heart giving others the energy to try their hardest. These three have started practicing way even before players start looking forward to baseball season. Every chance that they get to practice they take advantage of.

With Mendoza’s explosive home run swing, Garcia’s extraordinary defense, and Gallo’s ability to play all around, the Men’s Varsity team has a very good shot at the OAL title this year. Not only those things but also the leadership that they all have put together are great ingredients to a successful team, they all have great control over their fellow players and are well respected and appreciated.

These three Tigers not only play baseball, they all play more than one sport. Gallo also played soccer as the best goalie in the OAL, played basketball in his freshmen year.

“I try my hardest at practice, try to bring good leadership to the team and encourage everyone to do their best in the game,” said Gallo.

Gallo has played for a traveling team called the Alameda World Team. Together they have traveled to many places, all including Santa Barbara, Montana, Arizona, and Italy. After being asked how they played in Italy he said, “The way they play baseball over there is very different then how we play it here.”

Mendoza not only played baseball, he also played football, and grabbed the second team all-city for defensive player and was one of the best defensive players for the Tigers. Two years ago, Mendoza played for a team called the Rattlers and are also a traveling team. On e of the most memorable moments for Mendoza was when he went to La Habana, Cuba to play against a semi-pro team two years ago in the summer.

“ We have new pitchers like Luis Maldonado, we have new uniforms, I hit more bombs with my explosive swing, I have more versatility, but most important, is that we have come really close as a team,” said Juan Mendoza.

Last but certainly not least, Garcia played soccer as well as wrestling and he has achieved great goals for both of those teams.

“ Its cool playing with Juan Mendoza and Noah Gallo because we help each other out when we do things wrong and try to get better for the good of the team,” said Garcia.

Starting Jan. 27 the Varsity baseball team will practice as a team. Recently the three “All-Stars” have been working out to get ready for the season. All because their first game is against Skyline. This year they have to come into the season ready, not get ready during the season.

This year Fremont has home field advantage against the Titans, two out of three games will be played at Fremont’s home field, Curt Flood.
