Time Should be Up for 'Flavor of Love'

Your time is up, says Flavor Flav, legendary hype man.

A man who used to sing songs like “Fight the Power” and helped in movements to uplift African Americans is now in his third season of Flavor of Love.

Flavor of Love is a show in which Flavor Flav (William Drayton) takes 20 women, gives them nicknames that usually have some degrading meaning and has them complete tasks to show how much love they have for him.

Flav claims that he is going to find love or die trying, so does that mean that “I” as a female have to constantly witness his derogatory treatment towards women?

The hype man is currently down to his last four girls who are fighting for a “clock.”

The clock symbolizes how much time they have left in his house and in his heart, and if Flav is not feeling them he will abruptly tell them “Your time is up.”

Flavor Flav kisses multiple women on the show. He also invites them to his room to have a “nightcap” when they have completed a task. Flavor Flav already has seven kids and says he would like another three by the woman whom he chooses off the show.

In his first season, he picked “Hoopz,” but she left him to be a model. The second season, he chose “Deelishis.” The couple split a few months after the show after she found out that he allegedly got another woman pregnant. She now has her own clothing line of jeans and poses nude as a model.

Someone needs to tell Flav that his time is up; some people say third time is a charm but now I'm just sick of the way females are portrayed on the show. The show is outrageous and sexist and it sends the wrong message to young males and females.

This show makes it seem like its okay for males to date multiple women and call them names and it makes females think that its okay to be labeled for a little bit of money.

The show receives rave reviews from viewers every week. Are we addicted to “reality TV”, or are we addicted to watching ignorance and people putting down a culture as a whole and/or giving young people the wrong impression of what love is and what being in a real relationship is like.
