“Resident Evil: Apocalypse” fans wondered: would the sequel prove to be better than its lifeless predecessor?
“Resident Evil: Apocalypse” certainly proves that it is, in fact, better than the first. The film is grossing $37.031 million in just two weeks, and holding on the charts as one of the top 10 movies, Whether you are a fan of action movies, or love to catch a good horror movie now and then this critic suspects “Resident Evil: Apocalypse” is definitely a movie for all viewers who are age 17 or over.
Packed with non-stop action from beginning to end, some Ipswich High School seniors agree “Resident Evil: Apocalypse” has enough scares to keep the fans of the video game watching intently as the plot unfolds.
“It had more non-stop action,” said Senior Jeff Nelson, who calls the rated-R film “one of the best movies” he has seen in a long time. “Unlike the first, this movie had a plot to it and made senses”
The film begins where the first left off, with “Alice” (Milla Jovoich) in the heart of the zombie infested Racoon City. She has been subject to a biogenetic experiment by the Umbrella Corporation and become genetically altered, giving her super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills will be needed if anyone is to escape the horrors of Raccoon City.
Other characters include “Jill Valentine” (Sienna Guillory), a demoted member of Umbrella Corp’s elite Special Tactics and Rescue Services (S.T.A.R.S), “Carlos Oliviera” played by Oded Fehr, and “L.J.” played by Mike Epps. These folks must survive and quickly escape what is to become the “City of the Dead”. To reach their goal, they will need to battle a relentless onslaught of Umbrella forces and terrifying bio-engineered weapons -- the most of fearsome being the colossal and heavily-armed assassin, Nemesis.
“The action scenes kept me watching the screen and there were enough scenes to make me jump also, it was like playing the video game again.”
If you were not pleased with how the first one came out and your skeptical about giving this one a try, take our word that it is a good movie. From the beginning scene to the end, viewers will find themselves immersed in a non-stop action movie with enough occasional scares to catch you unexpectedly.
On the other hand, if you haven’t seen the first movie (which is probably for the best) and you are not sure about seeing this one, there isn’t one moment where you will be bored.
Whether the action scenes in this movie have any point at all is debatable, but for what it’s worth, “Resident Evil: Apocalypse” is a decent movie.
