The Tahoma Bears Fastpitch Season is over now, and the girls didn’t do too badly. Overall, the girls were 8 and 8 in league which got them to play-offs and districts. Play-offs where held at Kent Service Park and Tahoma played Todd Beamer for 9th and 10th seed. Unfortunately, The bears lost to beamer 4-3, which meant that Tahoma was 10th seed in Districts. The girls kept their heads high and were getting ready for districts the following weekend.
On Friday, May 23rd, the girls Fastpitch team got out of class early to play a 12:00pm game against Emerald Ridge and a 4:00pm game against Thomas Jefferson. They needed to win 1 out of the 2 games played to move on to Saturday. But sadly, they lost both games. The first game they got 10 runned and the second game they lost 7-2. The Tahoma Bears fastpitch season was now over. The girls are losing two seniors this year, Hailey Granlund (3rd base) and Kimi Reese-White (Pitcher). “Hailey and Kimi are leaving us with a good base for next year” Says outfielder Kaila Wilkinson “Hopefully next year we can do just as good and maybe better.”
The two seniors this year have been playing for Milligan since the 7th grade, playing up on his 8th grade team. They have created so many memories throughout there 5 years of playing. “My most memorable time was my first at bat in the 9th grade, I was really scared because I was just a rookie freshman that had got brought up to play on varsity” Hailey says. “I actually hit the ball too, and that was the first hit of the game as well. I got two hits that game”. Kimi has experienced so much with the softball team, as well as Hailey, over these last 5 years “There are just way to memories over the years to even name.” Kimi states.
Overall, the Tahoma Bears fastpitch had a great season and can’t wait for next year. “We will miss them a lot, we had a great year with them as our captains” Says infielder Ashley Dyche.
