At-a-glance

Currently, I am in the computer lab, sitting in front of the computer and thinking about how to write an “optimistic” article. I am thinking about all the good events that will happen and all the positive things that are currently happening.

I am looking around with a hope to find some materials that I can use in my article… The last days of the diamond month –birthstone of April is diamond-… April is the courier of the Spring. April… It is the time that countdowns start for everyone… Last days of high school life for seniors and summer vacation for the others…. The month of dreams…

As much as I focused on and try to think hard, it is becoming difficult to find reasons and then I am thinking to myself, what is my mistake? What am I doing wrong? Is it really that hard to find a reason to be happy? Or is it really that hard to smile? Looking around again and realizing that it is not only me who is having hard time to find reasons to smile/to be happy. It is the human beings of the 21st century. Lack of appreciation and unsatisfied faces are the first thing that I came across.

We, as human beings, just don’t know how to continue to our life and aggregating every single “bad” event and don’t appreciate the good ones … We love to dance around our problems and make them as big as we can! I think it is also partly because we assume that everything should be good all the time. Good is normal. Good is what life is supposed to be every single day. But to be honest, there is no such a thing as a “perfect life,” as long as you search for it and don’t look back and start to appreciate what you have. We should learn how to get over things and just say “ob la di ob la da life goes on”. We live like immortals.

While thinking about all of this and observing people I am listening to music at the same time. I caught another thing - all the songs that I like have some kind of reference to pain. I am asking to myself, “Are human beings masochists by nature? Or are we too blind to see how lucky we are/how much we actually have?”

One thing is clear:  We need to learn how to accept the positives in our lives and make those a source of strength.  We need to appreciate what we have. So after reading and hopefully thinking about all of the things you have it “if you’re happy and you know clap your hands”.
