News has taken many forms over the last twenty years, finding all sorts of ways to bring itself into our lives with or without the conventional paper. Now, it seems to be faster to look up local and international events on the computer rather than by watching or reading the paper.

          The media has drastically changed from what it once was and in that regard it has begun changing for what I believe to be the better. Now, instead of ordering a newspaper or buying one from my local super market, I can simply open up my smart phone and read about what’s going on in the world as soon as it happens.

          But, why is this for the better? What ever happened to old-style paper and print newspapers? Well, they are still around, but I feel that they are a dying breed as products such as the Kindle comes out. Soon, there will be a new computerized tablet out strictly for news updates. Think of how much more efficient, as well as how much better it would be for the environment. If instead of a stack of printed newspapers, you have a small digital tablet that can download all the news from local to international and be ready for use as soon as anything new comes up.

          If this sort of advance happens, I have no doubt that internet media will swiftly take the reins from print newspapers, as they will quickly become obsolete. As I said earlier, think of the pros and cons of this sort of advancement. A con would be that many students who used to earn money by paper routes would be out of a job. However, also put into perspective, you will be getting rid of thousands of heavy print newspapers a week as fewer and fewer people will be reading them. This will cause fewer trees to be cut down due to less demand of paper for newspapers.

          In just a few short years the printed newspaper will be at its end. But, that all depends on if people want to make that final push to make recent news more readily available to them or continue reading about news that could only be as recent as the day before.
