For the fourth straight year it seems the Phillies are heading for October baseball. The two time National league Champs have caught fire and are four games ahead of the braves in the National league east. Phillies bats have been producing runs night after night. Carlos Ruiz is batting .299 with seven home runs and 37 RBI 14 coming in September. Ryan Howard has seven home runs and 20 RBI in the month of September.

In addition to the Phillies bats coming alive in September so has the Phillies pitching staff. The three headed monster of Hamels, Halladay, and Oswalt have shut down opposing offenses. Hamels in his last five starts is 5-0 with a 0.73 earned run average. Since joining the Phillies Oswalt is 6-1 with a 1.17 earned run average. With this combination the Phillies are favorites to repeat for the third time as National league champs. The Phillies have clinched the National League East for the fourth straight year. October and Phillies baseball has been a staple for the past few years. The fans have had a lot to look forward to with two World Series appearances in the last two seasons. With expectations high for this year the Phillies won’t disappoint. Fans should expect a second world series in three years and another parade down Broad Street. Phillies fans hope the team can win another World Series with memories of the parade two years ago fresh in their minds.
