Too many students consider their cell phone as just another part of their body.  To them, a life without the constant beeping and buzzing is a life of great struggle. Without a constant link to communication, students are lost.  However, this “life link”, has become the direct cause of thousands of deaths a year in the United States alone.  Texting and driving is another modern day dance with death.

In a recent informal survey taken at Dakota ridge, 43 out of 63 students admitted to texting and driving. Some students claimed that doing it every once in a while‚ others admitted to doing it all the time. While a few students even went as far as to say texting while driving was just a, “one time” experience.

Efforts everywhere are being made to highlight the incredibly dangerous consequences of this deadly habit. In fact, a group of college students in Great Britain created a commercial illustrating the harsh repercussions of texting and driving. The clip shows a woman and her friends being brutally vaulted around the inside of the car after a head on collision as well as the victims of the second car involved in this horrific accident; however the commercial was deemed too graphic to be shown on cable television.
