Band and Orchestra Blow Listeners Away Dakota Ridge orchestra shares the floor with Summit and Powderhorn. - Lindsey Baltich Advertising Sunday, February 12, 2012 By Lindsey Baltich Dakota Ridge Band and Orchestra performed brilliantly with Summit Ridge Middle School band and Powerderhorn Elementary band, who were both eager to follow in their footsteps.   The hard working participants in Dakota Ridge band are trying to fight to keep the district from cutting the band program in lower schools because the passion for what they do shines brightly in every performance as well as younger students who are just beginning to experience being a part of band or orchestra during school.   "It means a lot because there is a chance their (lower schools) music will be cut and for them to be able to play with us while they still can is amazing. I am sure it is really cool for them too because they got to play with the big kids," sophomore, Shea McGlone, says proudly.    On February 7th, Band took the stage. Each student played their instruments amazingly and blew away the audience with their jazzy upbeat style   On February 8th, Orchestra took the Summit Ridge gym floor with just as much enthusiasm with their classical rock.     Band is a great way to express one's love for music and perform.
