"The Seniors" pose after they won their first powder puff championship - Jake Iannella

The Dakota Ridge senior girls walk away with the Powder Puff Championship that they have been chasing since freshman year.

“The Seniors” have been a Powder Puff team since 9th grade, and always have been a top competitor for the championship. They have finally etched their name in Dakota Ridge’s history.

The tight knit group that was formed and has kept every member since freshman year, has been a dominate team ever since then. They have fulfilled their dream and finally have the championship trophy.

This year, the team name of these girls was “The Seniors”, and they sure played like they have been in the top rounds of the tournament many times before.

When these girls were just freshmen, they made it to the semi finals and received fourth place, as sophomores they earned third, and as juniors they made it to the championship game, but fell short to receive second place.

This year was a different story, the girls set out for the first place spot that they have been chasing for years, and they sure earned it. The senior girls dominated every team in their path until they met the very talented sophomore team “The Ten Little Pigs ”.

The game was under way and an unfamiliar sight was happening, the Ten Little Pigs had already put up a couple of touchdowns. The score was 14-0, and the seniors were shocked and slowly felt their dreams slipping out of their hands.

The game then became very physical, and right when it started to get rough , two players on opposing teams collided. Cassidy O’Hagen, a player on the Ten Little Pigs, was not getting up. The trainer and the staff then had to cart her off the field as she possibly had sustained a concussion.

After that, with good coaching from seniors Zac Koch and Jalen Neely , the senior girls bounced back after halftime with a strong defense. They kept the sophomores out of the end zone, their offense shined with three late game scores.

When time expired the final score was 21-14, the senior girls had accomplished their mission.
