Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was written by author Robert Louis Stevenson and was first published in 1886. The storyline follows a lawyer who investigates the very strange occurrences between Dr. Henry Jekyll and the evil Edward Hyde.
“I was really nervous [at auditions],” Damian Padilla, junior, who is playing the characters Jekyll and Hyde, said. “I worked hard and I made sure I had a good audition.”
This musical is known for its portrayal of a split personality. It takes apart a person to show that there is a good and evil side to everyone. The very phrase “Jekyll and Hyde” has come to mean a term for someone who acts completely different than his or her normal self in a certain situation. The character Hyde is that of something of an evil and lustful nature. Hyde’s activities are the complete opposite of those of Jekyll’s state.
“I think its really going to be a good show,” Padilla said. “I’m really excited I got this opportunity.”
The musical will be performed February 12 - 15, 2009.
