The DCHS
Volleyball team has witnessed one of the biggest comebacks in DCHS history.
After only winning two games they have come out of the gates with a record of
10-7, only two of which being district losses.
They are now in the run for district champs and on the
verge of making playoffs. They defeated last year’s state champs Southaven
the first time they met in a shutout and took them to five games the second.
They also defeated Olive Branch for the first
time in the team’s history.
Coach Jamie Baird said, “The season has gone better
then expected. Last year, we only won 2 games and this year we are in the run
for the playoffs.” She commented that the volleyball team has excelled in the
areas of “Serving, Jump Serving, and Passing.”
Marina Hayes said, “We need to remember to keep the
energy up out there on the court. We have bad habits of not communicating with
each other while we’re playing. If we open our mouths, call the ball, and keep
up the excitement, we’ll get where we need to be.”
