Fall has begun and so has the marching band 2009 season at East Jordan High school. This season of marching band first began Aug. 3rd, 2009; the first day of band camp. The band showed up at 9:00 a.m. on that morning. The week consisted of learning the music, marching drill, and the way the class will work. At the end of the week, the band performed what they had learned at camp for any interested viewers.
The show consists of over 20 moves and three songs: The Land of Make Believe, the Pink Panther, and Malaguena. This is a show that is sure to captivate the audience, and leave them with a sense of amazement and disbelief.
Sophomore Rachel Neal, a clarinet player for the band, said, “It’s really cool. I like most of the drill.”
The band has worked incredibly hard. Even after their three week break between band camp and the beginning of school, the band came to the first day of band with a willingness to do what needed to be done to have an amazing show.
Freshman Donny Miller, a trombone player for the band, states that “[The year] has started off pretty good.”
As you can see, the band has started off the year astonishingly. This is only a glimpse at what we can expect in the future from the band.
Future performances from the band consist of football games on Friday Sept. 25th, Saturday Oct. 10th, and Saturday Oct. 23rd. The band also has two invitational performances: one in Harbor Springs on Saturday Oct. 3rd, and one in Traverse City on Monday Oct. 12th.
