After thirty-six years of service here at Loyalsock Township, Mr. Paul Barrett retires, leaving the Arts up in the air the moment the first semester ends.
Before entering Loyalsock Township High School, Paul Barrett earned a degree in Art Education and a Masters Equivalency in Fine Arts at Mansfield University. During his time at LTHS, Mr. Barrett has left his mark in many ways by teaching from grades K-12. At the high school level, these courses consisted of Drawing and Painting I and II and Digital Photography. He also was the curriculum coordinator for the Fine Arts Department for fifteen years. Mr. Barrett generously was a class advisor for five different classes and he also spent twenty-six years as a supervisor for Loyalsock’s summer arts and crafts recreation. Currently, Mr. Barrett still teaches courses in Painting, Drawing, and Photography at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He also is working part time at Nevill’s Florist.
With his newly found free time, Mr. Barrett is putting all of this behind him to create his on photography business and becoming a professional Artist. Since photography is Paul Barrett’s main artistic talent is photography, he has begun preparing for juried art shows so he can sell his unique photography.
The student’s felt that Mr. Barrett’s classes were interesting and fun. Kirsti Hartzell’s first impression of Mr. Barrett was that he was easy going and she stated that she will miss him when he is gone.
