Country singer, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and the group, Lady Antebellum joined other stars Sunday to perform and answer phones to help raise money.

Many were affected by the waters that rose after the “devastating” rainfall Sunday, May 9 in Tennessee. Damage estimated to about 1 billion according to the Nashville Tennessean, and 30 people died, total within the 3 states. More than 1.5 million dollars were raised by country entertainers for flood relief.

“If there is a silver lining, it is that the world is getting to see Nashville at its best through this tragedy,” Paisley said. Paisley performed his song Welcome to the Future while his wife, actress Kimberly Williams Paisley pitched in and co-hosted the telethon on the GAC Network. “My wife’s up there. I think it is time to start things off with a donation. We are going to donate 100,000 dollars, get it going,” he says.

As a newcomer to Nashville, Sheryl Crow also preformed one of her new songs. “I have lived a lot a different places, but I have never felt home until I lived here,” she explains. Lady Antebellum sang an acoustic version of their number one hit Need You Now and also I Run to You. Lead singer, Hillary Scott says, “Being a Nashville native, born and raised here, it’s been so beautiful to see how the city has rallied together.”

“This [the flood] is horrible, although I’m glad that they[these celebrities] are giving the money to people who need it,” said junior Katie D’Anna.
The phone lines stayed opened during the show on the GAC Network and also after the show.
