Are you inspired to save a life? This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we have a lot of activities going on here at Westville High School. First, FCCLA is hosting a “Get Pinked out for Breast Cancer” day on Tuesday, October 13th. The organization will be hosting a day of events. If you’re interested in being a part of the events then contact Mrs. Patsy Winn.
A few of the events that will be happening this day are: a cake decorating contest in room 421 (the entry fee is 25 dollars), a “Walk for the Cure” event that students, staff, and businesses may participate in at the football practice field, the mayor of Westville will be speaking, judging who wore the most pink, and there will also be a group picture taken of everyone that wore pink that day.
Also, at the football games sideline cheerleaders and color guard will be wearing pink ribbons in honor of the fight against breast cancer.
Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, aside from skin cancer. An estimated 192,370 cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed in this year alone. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is meant to promote breast cancer awareness, and share information on the disease.
