There already is  a Harry Potter theme park called “The Wizarding World

of Harry Potter” in Orlando, Florida but they are building a Harry

Potter theme park in Universal Studios Hollywood California as well,

which will be done in the next few years.

The Florida took over four years to build, making an estimated opening for the California park in 2016. It will cost over $200 million to build the park.

The park will most likely be similar to the one built in Florida.

The park in Florida even has a few rides. The “Dragon Challenge” is a

roller coaster where a person gets to pick one of two dragons and

ride. The “Flight of the Hippogriff” is a ride that takes people past

Hagrids' house and around the pumpkin patch. Because many of the rides

at Universal Studios Hollywood are indoors it is possible that these

rides will not be built there; however, there will be Harry Potter theme

rides even if they are not the same as the ones at the Florida park.

One special attraction at the theme park is called “Harry Potter

and the Forbidden Journey.” This attraction takes people through a

replica of Hogwarts where people can see places like The Room of

Requirement, and the Gryffindor Common Room. While the other rides

may not be built at the park in California it is confirmed that the

recreation of the Hogwarts Castle will be built.

There is even a Hogsmeade with shops and restaurants that are

supposed to be from the book. Some of the places include a restaurant

called The Three Broomsticks where people can get food and at the back

of the restaurant there is the Hogs Head Pub where people can buy some

popular drinks in the Harry Potter books including Butterbeer which is

one of the most popular drink sold at the Florida park.

The drink is so popular that even students at Granite Hills want to see

what it tastes like. “I really want to try Butterbeer,” Kristen

Krajnak (12) said.

They have a Honeydukes sweet shop where people can buy Cauldron

Cakes, Chocolate Frogs, and many other treats found in the Harry

Potter World. There is also a Zonkos joke shop where people can buy

Sneakoscopes and Pygmy Puffs. They even have an Ollivanders wand shop

where a person can purchase their own wand or get a replica wand of a

character in the Harry Potter films.

Hannah Senninger (12) is “really excited to go to Ollivanders and

get [her] own personal wand.”

Krajnak is planning on going to the Harry Potter theme park on

opening day, with a group of friends in costume. While the park in

California may have some different shops it is likely that they will

keep some of them the same or at least sell the same products in some

of them.
