With their 12 years of school all but over, the Class of 2010 is now focusing on college.  What problems or concerns are on their minds?

“I am worried about transportation when I get to college,” said Steven Windey, who plans to attend the University of St. Thomas in the fall.

Senior Jessica Gross said, “I am worried about getting to class on time, doing my laundry and having no car.”

Seniors Leah Pirman and Jackson Gray are going to miss their parents, Leah her dad and Jackson his “Ma.”

Amber Davis says she “is going to miss her home and her parents” but then considers she is “living with my sister so…I don’t know.”

All the worries and fears that the seniors have this year made the list of the 15 things that most students going to college are most worried about, at least according to About.com:

(1)    Having the admissions office  letting them in by accident

1)      Having an awful roommate

2)      Not knowing any one and having problems meeting people and making friends

3)      Not being able to cut it academically

4)      Being nervous about being alone and on their own for the first time

Now if you are worried about going away for college here are some tips from ehow.com.

1)      Tell yourself that it is not necessary to have a major when you start college. Get your foot in the door first, decide what you want to do and then go for it.

2)      You are not the only one that is scared when you first get to college. Almost every student there has probably experienced the fear that you may be feeling when you first arrive.

3)      Try to stay in contact with your closest friends and family members that are going to be there for you when you are having difficulties in classes or with friends.

4)      When you get to the college, try to find a staff member like a counselor or teacher that you can talk to if you are not able to overcome any of your fears.

Students are also worried about having to cook for themselves and doing their laundry.   Sorry, guys, Mom will not be there every weekend to do your laundry so take time over the summer to learn how to do it.  Also, if you do not know how to cook, you may want to enroll in some cooking classes or take some classes from your mom or sister(s) if you have one, unless you are lucky enough to get a roommate that knows how to cook.
