The Michigan-Michigan State game was the talk of the college football world last Saturday as two major football rivalries battled on the gridiron.
Michigan ranked 18th and Michigan State ranked 17th prior to the game in the AP poll. The first quarter of the game was sluggish for both teams as Michigan only scored three points and the Spartans scored none.
But in the second quarter the Michigan State offensive ignited for 17 points and would go into halftime with a 17-10 lead over the Wolverines. Michigan’s offense, headed by Denard Robinson, was held scoreless in the third quarter while Michigan State tallied two touchdowns that electrified their momentum.
Michigan was unable to get off the ground in the fourth quarter and could not come back to the charging Spartans and lost 34-17.
Michigan State’s Kirk Cousins led the game at the quarterback position with 275 yards passing. Denard Robinson racked up more yardage, 301 yards total passing, but managed to commit three turnovers, dulling his Heisman hopes.
Michigan is 0 – 3 against the Spartans and will have to wait yet another year to defeat them.
