The Milan Boys Basketball team hopes to rebound from a disappointing 4-17 record from last year. Although a disappointing season, they are returning just about everyone this year. They return five seniors: Alex Walter, Zach Elza, Sean Laub, Grayson Miller, and Michael Brandes. They also pick up senior Brandon Withers. Other varsity players are juniors Ethan Voss, Alex Layden, and Derek Hornberger (who is both JV and varsity). Sophomore varsity players include Kurtis Kimla and John Herzog. The team also has a new head coach this year, Josh Blankinship, who came from New Albany High School.
The JV team is also looking pretty strong this year. The JV team members include sophomores Nick Ryan, Ben Lawhorn, Braden Voss, Nick Walters, Jake White, and Zack Lewis. There is also one freshman, Joey Davis along with junior Derek Hornberger. The Milan Basketball team is looking forward to a good year this year.
Game Summaries:
The Boys Varsity Basketball team opened the season at Hauser Tuesday night. The team had a great all around effort and trailed at halftime 33-29. We came out strong in the 3rd quarter and cut the lead to 2 points, but with 3:30 to go in the 3rd, Hauser went on a 15-0 run and we came up short falling 74-54 to the Jets. Grayson Miller and Brandon Withers paced the Indians with 15 points each. Ethan Voss added 7, Sean Laud scored 5, Sophomores John Herzog and Kurtis Kimlas each chipped in 4 points and Seniors Alex Walter and Michael Brandes each scored 2 points.
The Boys JV Basketball team opened the season at Hauser Tuesday night. The team battled all night, led at halftime, but came up short falling 40-35 to the Jets. Jake White and Zack Lewis paced the Indians with 12 and 9 points each. Nick Walter chipped in 6 and Braden Voss added 4. Nick Ryan and Derek Hornberger each had 2 to close the scoring for the squad.

The Indians were led by Brandon Withers with 10 points, Grayson Miller and John Herzog with 8 points each, Alex Walter and Zach Elza with 7 points, Ethan Voss added 6 points, Sean Laub added 5 points and Michael Brandes finished with 2 points.
The Boys JV Basketball team lost in Double Overtime to North Decatur Saturday night, 58-51. The Indians had chances to put the game away in regulation, but fought to keep the contest going through two OT's despite playing with 4 players the entire second OT. Braden Voss led the charge with 17pts while Jake White added 11. Zack Lewis added 9 pts while Nick Ryan, Nick Walter and Derek Hornberger all had 4 apiece. Joey Davis completed the scoring with 2pts.
