The world always cries for the loss of celebrities, rarely do people cry for the loss of 60,000 innocent children.
“Get informed about Kony 2012 because is a big issue, a lot of people hear about it, but they don’t know the background,” junior Dafane Garcia said.
For the past nine years, The Invisible Children campaign has dedicated its life to protect Africa’s children in an attempt to keep them away from Joseph Kony’s army. They do this by using social media and films to get people involved in the organization to help bring peace.
Today Joseph Kony has become the world’s worst criminal and Africa’s most wanted man, due to his created of the rebel group, The Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in 1987.
He was  indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity, but was never captured. Since the day he ran away from justice, he started killing thousands of innocent people and abducting children to be soldiers for his army. Children are forced to live under this man’s violent conditions, and they are forced to kill, fight, and carry blunt weapons with them.
This year Invisible Children worked harder to spread its story by creating the April 20th night event in where supporters allowed the world to know who Joseph Kony is and has being doing.
“If you feel strongly about it, then you shouldn’t back away about the way you feel,” junior Cindy Orduño said.
With President Barack Obama’s support, Kony 2012 campaign was created, and American soldiers were sent to Africa in order to capture and stop this man’s invasion. There is a time limit, however: If Kony is not stopped in 2012, the United States mission will end regardless of the outcome.
People seem to get involve in this campaign and fight to bring peace to African’s childrens.
“Get involved in it!” Senior Nancy Villalobos said.
