Reconstructing the school yard two steps at a time
Many of you may be asking, why are they repainting the school parking lot? And why are they re-landscaping the east side of the school? “To keep up the appearance of the school,” Head custodian John Miller says as he gives us the deets.
The east side of the school is being landscaped because of water damage, and the district chose to save some money by patching and xeriscaping the land instead of putting grass back in.
The school parking lot was not repainted over the summer because the painting team lost a person in their shop and they were too busy painting the parking lots that they over-coated in black paint, according to Mr. Miller. They also couldn’t repaint the parking lot over the weekend because they would have to pay the paint team more money to work overtime.
Xeriscaping refers to landscaping in ways that reduce or eliminate the need for supplemental water from irrigation. This minimizes water use.
