As Halloween creeps up, many thrill seekers head out to the local
amusement parks, which transform into horror scenes featuring characters
in grotesque makeup and frightening mazes like La Llorona and Scream.
Teens flock to Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios and
Knott’s Berry Farm throughout the month of October hoping that this
year’s haunting attractions will scare them out of their minds more
than the previous year.
Due to the nature of the characters, events and shows at these
horror events, these horror attractions are not recommended for children
under 13.
Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest is filled with zombies and
monsters at every corner of the amusement park. This year, Six Flags
added three new mazes named Cursed, Chupacabra and The Aftermath. Some
of the mazes returning are Bite 2, Lecter’s Slaughterhouse, Willoughby’s
Haunted Mansion, Jokester’s Hideout 3D and Warehouse 13.
“I believe that Six Flags is better because it offers more
opportunities for other people to join in on the fun,” said Vanessa Yu, a
junior at Daniel Pearl Magnet High School.
At Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, visitors can take the Terror Tram, which takes them through the studio backlot.
“I say it’s pretty scary and super fun,” senior Raquel Gonzalez
said. “If you want to have fun with your friends, I think it’s better
than Six Flags Fright Fest.”
At Knott’s Scary Farm’s Halloween Haunt, visitors venture through
new mazes, including Delirium that takes you on a journey to your
darkest nightmares. Endgames is another maze filled with warriors of the
apocalypse and Gypsy Camp, of which you’re in the backstreets of a
ghost town ready to be frightened.
Ticket prices vary depending on the evenings that you go and whether
you purchase front-of-the-line passes. Additional prices may also be
required for mazes or shows.
At Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest, you can get tickets
online for as low as $39.99, which is a savings of $22. For more
