From singing to prayers to worship, the Revolution for Christ Club at Daniel Pearl Magnet High School was created to allow members to share their faith with other students.

Every Thursday at lunch, the Revolution for Christ Club meets in order to preach God’s love and learn more about Jesus, according to club founder and senior Ivy Prada.

The members begin each meeting by singing Christian songs as a form of worship. They then talk about the true meaning of their faith and what God means to them.  They discuss the difference between knowing about God and have a personal relationship with him.

Prada, a senior, started the club in 2010 to tell her story of how her faith has affected her.
“I just want everyone to love God and see how he loves everyone,” Prada said.

Spanish teacher Glenda Hurtado sponsors the Revolution for Christ Club and allows students to meet and pray in her classroom.

“It’s a very uplifting group,” Hurtado said. “It’s interesting because they look after each others’ needs, in the same way of emotional  needs and struggles they have and they communicate with God.”

Senior Monica Robles, treasurer of the club, wants the club to continue growing.

“Our club’s goal is to be successful and expand and to someday grow big enough to move into our school’s auditorium,” Robles said.

The club is open to everyone and has had as many as 40 students at its meetings. It also brings in guest speakers each month to preach and pray with members.

The club feels the need to spread the love of Christ and they do this by promoting a relationship with God and by sharing the word with others.

“Even if they don’t believe in God, we gladly welcome anyone who has an open heart,” Robles said.
