Kerr, Philip. Eye of The Forest. New York: Orchard Books, 2009. -
The Children of The Lamp series is by P.B. Kerr and it's about two twin djinn (genie) named John and Philippa Gaunt who go on amazing adventures.
In their first book, The Akhenaten Adventure they learn that they are djinn. Not only do they learn they are djinn, they also learned about the main djinn tribes, and their tribe the Marid, the Jinn and the evil Irift, two other tribes. In this book they also have to fight the leader of the Irift, Iblis, who plans to do something that could risk the fate of the world.
In the second book of the series, The Blue Djinn of Babylon, John and Philippa meet the leader of the djinn. The Blue Djinn of Babylon and Philippa gets kidnapped by someone who they would never expect. So John has to find out who kidnapped her and go on another amazing adventure--this time to save his sister.
In the third book, The Cobra King of Kathmandu, my personal favorite, their friend Dybbuk desperately asks for their help which leads them to an evil cobra cult that has used djinn against their will. Now this cult has a plan against John and Philippa’s uncle and their friend. The twins have to go on yet another adventure to save them.
In the fourth book, The Day of the Djinn Warriors John and Phillippa face their old enemy, Iblis, but will they be able to defeat him now that he has ancient evil warriors from an empire destroyed long ago? In this adventure they have more than just a couple problems; they also have to deal with trying to save their mother from becoming the new Blue Djinn of Babylon.
In P.B. Kerr’s latest Children of Lamp book, The Eye of the Forest their friend Dybbuk has lost all of his djinn powers. He will do anything to get it back so he heads to the ancient Incan Empire where he hopes to be able to regain his djinn powers. As I said he will do anything to get his powers back which includes opening a cursed portal. The only people who can stop him are John and Phillippa. Will they be able to? Read the book and find out.
Obviously, this series is adventurous, funfilled, and will keep you on the edge of your seat or bed or whereever you read it. John and Phillippa’s adventures will always be my favorite adventures.
