The Great War has has begun: Austria-Hungary and Germany against the British. Prince Aleksander Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary has just been informed that his parents have been killed, and has been taken into hiding in Switzerland. Deryn Sharp has disguised herself as a boy in order to join the Darwinist British Air Service and work aboard the Leviathan, a Darwinist airship fabricated of and populated by many different creatures. When the Leviathan crashes in Switzerland, Deryn and Aleksander meet and these should-be enemies are sent on an incredible adventure aboard the Leviathan.
From Scott Westerfeld, author of the bestselling “Uglies” series, comes “Leviathan.” The story is a historical science fiction retelling of World War I. The novel is written for young adult readers, but that does not take away from the adventure of the story. Throughout the book are drawings by Keith Thompson, illustrating the story as it’s told.
“Leviathan” is a unique story that is sure to please sci-fi fans. “Behemoth,” the second book in the series, will be released in October.
