For their trip to Disney World during spring break, the Marching Band and Jazz Band are trying to raise money by participating in a variety of fundraisers and getting the school involved.
Their goal is to raise a little over $14,000 to pay transportation costs and for participating in the parade. “I am extremely excited for the Disney World trip,” senior Jed Corra said. “This is my senior year and I have been in Marching Band since I was a freshman. We have never done anything like this.”
Band boosters have helped out the most, but mostly anyone from the band or anyone who is involved can pick a fundraiser and they plan it, approve it, then put it together. They are planning a New Year’s Day Teen Bash at Six Pence Pub and Eatery, featuring Reverent Skye, Jan. 1. All proceeds will go to the band.
Fundraisers the group has completed so far are catalog orders, bake sales, yard sales/rummage sales, and spirit nights at Texas Roadhouse and Chick Fil-A. They held a faculty talent show Dec. 14, charging $3 a ticket; they will also be doing Santa-grams at the end of this month to be delivered by Blue Santa Dec 22. “My favorite event was definitely the rummage/yard sale,” sophomore Sierra Burke said.
