Most people will go most if not all their lives not really knowing where or how their food is produced. If you’ve ever thought “How is my food made?” then the film “Food, Inc.” is something you should rent and see as soon as you can.
The movie goes in depth into the production of our food, especially the fact that many of the things that we eat turn out to be in some way made from corn. They also do a great job of interviewing farmers--many of whom live in our area or in our neighboring states--on their opinions of our current food industry.
Our very own Ms. Cory Lockhart went to see this film and said, “It was great.”
She and I liked the interviews with the chicken farmers. The movie made her “glad we have good farmers markets here in Louisville.”
One thing that stuck out to her was that “large companies were suing small farmers for bad cross pollination (of corn).”
One thing that I noticed was the barbaric way they killed the animals. The way they showed it in the movie was very raw and uncut. The reason Lockhart went to see this film was that she was “in the middle of reading ‘Fast Food Nation’ by Eric Schlosser, and it seemed like a natural thing to do.”
She also said that the film “strengthened my opinion that change is needed (in the food industry).”
When asked if she would recommend the film, she replied, “Absolutely, for anybody who wants to make good food or environmental choices.”
The film should be coming out on DVD soon for all to see, and we agreed that it would be a good choice to rent it and see as soon as you can.
