Have you ever wondered who the Marshall Center and Marshall Stadium are named after?
The answer is R. W. “Buck” Marshall, the president of Marshall Reality Company in St. Matthews.
Athletic Director Dennis Lampley described Marshall as “a really great man. He was the main reason for Marshall Stadium and the Marshall Center.”
Marshall, who donated more than $1 million to Trinity, would sometimes during his neighborhood walks visit the Sears Avenue practice field and watch as Lampley’s football team worked.
Over the years Marshall became close to Lampley and a great friend of Trinity.
Lampley said of Marshall’s death in 2004, “We were all very sad. We had lost a member of the Trinity family.”
