On his Hall of Fame plaque, Reverend Harry A. Jansing is described as having a “rough exterior” that was a “thin veil over his heart of gold.” Jansing may be known as the namesake for our very own football field, but he was much more than that. He was a member of the Trinity community for nearly 40 years until his death in 1992. He taught many subjects, including mechanical drawing, and served as athletic director for the school for 20 years. It was under his direction that the Rocks received national attention and became the athletic powerhouse that they are known as today. Jansing was a beloved mentor to athletic directors throughout Jefferson County. His determination, organization, and general leadership skills brought him many honors imparted upon him by his peers and colleagues. Dylan Tyler, a senior at Trinity, summed up Jansing as “an instrumental leader in our athletic history.”
