“Feeling This,” “All the Small Things,” “First Date,” “The Rock Show,” “Dumpweed,” “Carousel,” and “Dammit” are just some of the hits performed by the pop punk trio blink-182 during their concert at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre Aug. 15 in Chicago.
After a four-year hiatus guitarist Tom DeLonge reunites with former band mates Mark Hoppus on bass and Travis Barker on drums. They kicked off a summer reunion tour with bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, and Chester French.
After the opening acts, blink-182 rocked on stage with their iconic opener, “Dumpweed.”
The blink boys continued their set with “What’s My Age Again,” “Adam’s Song,” and “Reckless Abandon.”
After pretending to leave the stage and end the show, the curtain opened again to reveal Barker performing his flying saucer drum solo, followed by two of blink’s biggest songs, “Carousel” and “Dammit.”
A very modest show with little in the way of pyrotechnics, gimmicks or toilet humor (one of the many things the band is famous for), they instead focused on the music, which was extremely well played with little or no mistakes, fast paced and very punk rock.
The crowd of 30,000 showed support by singing along to almost every single song the band played and chanting “One more song!” to incite an encore.
The concert was a blast, and with the summer tour continuing to the middle of October and a new album coming out sometime next year, there’s no doubt that this self-proclaimed “crappy punk rock” band is truly back and will be sticking around for some time to come.
