Steve Raible, Brian Brohm, Rob Bironas, Carwell Gardner and John-Michael Hayden are some of the sports superstars that have walked through Trinity’s halls. Another sports phenomenon who has set foot on Trinity’s campus is James LeVenson Quick.
Quick is a freshman who plays both football and basketball for the Rocks. Jody Demling, a Courier-Journal sports writer, said on his blog, “I’ve had him (Quick) described to me as the ‘next Michael Bush.’ He’s not as big or as physical as the former Male All-American, but he’s the best freshman in the state in football and has so many basketball skills.”
One of Quick’s biggest influences in his sporting life so far has been his grandfather.
Quick said, “My grandfather is who led me into sports at the age of six.”
Another big help for Quick has been lifting coach Mr. Bob Maddox.
Maddox said, “I worked with his dad at the University of Louisville as a wide receiver, and so if he is anything like him, he’ll be a good ballplayer for Trinity.”
Quick is a nationally recognized athlete who was part of an AAU circuit basketball team.
Quick said, “The AAU circuit basketball team included the nation’s top amateur athletes. We traveled around internationally to play.”
Quick manages his academics with no problems, balancing his busy schedule. Quick said this about which sport he preferred: “Whichever one gets me a scholarship for college.”
