Bechtloff informed the Trinity community that the Trinity’s singers had been honored.
“I just received a letter from Dr. Richard Miles, president, Kentucky Music Educators Association,” Bechtloff wrote to faculty. “Because of our ‘Exemplary Performance Status’ as a result of our performance at festivals, we’ve been issued a special invitation to perform at the 2006 Kentucky Music Educators Conference.”
All six Trinity students who auditioned for the KMEA’s All-State Choir achieved this honor. They were seniors Brian Bowles, Brian Cobban, Clark Stevenson and Jonathan Wahl and juniors Michael Smith and Chad Zimlich.
The process involved auditions at Jeffersontown High School, where they and hundreds of others performed.
After a number of rehearsals, the All-State Choir will perform at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
Bowles said, “It’s a lot of fun.”
In addition to the All-State Choir honors, senior Justin Heaverin was selected as the No. 1 jazz band drummer in Kentucky.
He will be the first drummer for the Kentucky Music Educators Association All-State Jazz Band. They only select two drummers from the state.
“To my knowledge,” Bechtloff said, “this is the first time anyone from Trinity has been in the All-State Jazz Band.
Sophomore trombone player Adam Rainey was named to the All-State Concert Band. Bechtloff described Rainey as “a very talented young trombone player.”
