The cross country Rocks won the class AAA Region Three championship for the second consecutive year on a warm and sunny Nov. 5 day at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park.

The Rocks were led by junior Ethan Short with a time of 16:41.01, and the team placed six runners in the top 10.

Finishing with a team score of 27, the Rocks took the region as Oldham County trailed with a score of 50. South Oldham finished in third place with a score of 63 but had the individual champion, Daniel Murner, who ran a 15:57.51.

“I was really happy the way things went out there today. We ran together as a team, and that is what I want to see happen at State,” said senior Kenny Minogue, who finished sixth with a time of 16:56.32.

Trinity’s James Wolff came in fourth (16:53.85), followed by Thomas Noel (16:54.55). Sean Darrow (17:07.27) and Bryan Henn (17:15.72) rounded out the ninth and 10th places, respectively.

In anticipation for State, head coach Chad Waggoner said, “If I can ask each and every one of them if they did their best and they can say yes, I’ll be happy wherever we finish.”
