“The Rocket,” Roger Clemens’s nickname throughout his career, has finally arrived in the home of the New York Yankees, the Bronx.

When the Yankees Charter bus arrived in Texas on Monday, April 30, the Yankees’ owner, George Steinbrenner, sent a text to Roger Clemens’s agent, Randy Hendricks, saying, "I just landed in your wonderful state." Hendricks replied by saying, "I'm out of town." Immediately the thought ran through the Yankees’ heads: is Roger Clemens talking to the Red Sox? Then again, Clemens was best friends with the Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, and his best of friend’s pitcher Andy Petitte. Six days later on Sunday, May 5 the Clemens made an unexpected visit to Yankee Stadium. A visit that only Steinbrenner and his staff new about. The Yankees players did not even know about it. Between innings Clemens was seen in Steinbrenner’s private box, and then the fans heard, “Well they came and got me out of Texas”. Before Clemens could finish Yankee Stadium went crazy, according to reports from ESPN. The stadium started to shake. Clemens’s signing contract includes 4.5 million dollars a month, and a clause saying he is allowed to see his family when he is not pitching; rather then staying with the team. This has caused some controversy in the sports world, but for all Yankee fans they’re all excited that the Rocket is back!
