“Over 2,500 entries,” Terri Leonard, CHS art teacher said, “and we won!”

The Northwest Academy of Music sponsored its annual Win-a-Luna art contest Dec. 3. This was a design contest which Leonard affirmed was open for all art students not only at CHS but throughout the state and began Sept. 1. The contest sought young artists to create a design for a guitar.

Jeff Park, freshman, won the grand prize and Cody May, senior, received third prize for grades 6-12.

Honorable mentions were sophmores Jacob Ohnemus and Zachary Smeltzer; juniors Amanda Russo and Chandler Etheridge; and seniors Michael Camerino, Lana Lawrence, Corbin Kuykendall and Sarah Culora.

Grand prize received a Neo "Your Space" Electric Guitar (List $449.50). The “Your Space” guitar has a clear pickgaurd which unscrews and allows for the placement of the winning art design.

Following grand prize, first prize received a Gypsy Neo Single Cutaway Natural Electric Guitar (List $219.50). Third prize received a Luna Guitar t-shirt.

“It was great to see so many of our students perform so well two years in a row,” Leonard said. “We had two students from Coeur d’Alene place top four and six honorable mentions.”
