On April 26 and 27, the New Orleans Jazz Fest and Heritage Festival took place at the fairgrounds. The blazing hot temperature did not stop thousands of fans from gathering to watch their favorite bands show off their talent. Some of the performances included Zac Brown Band, Jimmy Buffet, and Foo Fighters.
Many students from Northshore attended the festivities and, despite the miserably hot weather, enjoyed the event. “I really enjoyed all the singers, especially Jimmy Buffet. I got super dehydrated and hot, but it was worth it!” says Ashley Ramirez, a sophomore who attended the festival. With all the overpriced food and drinks, money can slip away with the blink of an eye. However, enjoying the music of highly appreciated bands is something not many people want to miss. “This year, I was lucky enough to watch my favorite band, Iron and Wine. It gave a different feel to the whole ‘Jazz Fest’ atmosphere. It was completely opposite from what it normally is; it had great variety,” says soon-to-be-graduated, Fernanda Zambudio-Saurez.
The festival continues next weekend starting on Thursday as more bands, such as Florence and the Machine, perform. So grab the sunscreen and the bottles of water! The Jazz Fest is something you don’t want to miss!
